How do you deal with differing views?
I use to like Liam Neeson as an actor and the movies he was in, but then it changed. Why? Because of his comments on gun control.
Yes, I am a firearms instructor. Yes, I shoot for fun, as a hobby and for sport. Yes, I believe in the 2nd Amendment. Yes, I believe there are people that own and use firearms that should not be allowed. And yes, Hollywood is FULL of hypocrisy.
Back to Mr. Neeson…In a recent interview he voiced his opinions about gun control in the U. S. with such comments as
“I am totally for gun control in the U.S.,” Neeson said in an interview with The Independent. “The population of America is roughly 300 million and there are 300 million guns in this country, which is terrifying.”
He says of the Constitution: “It is the right to bear arms which is the problem. I think if the Founding Fathers knew what was happening they would be turning in their graves with embarrassment at how that law has been interpreted.”

And then the number of movies in which he himself uses a firearm:
- The Bounty
- The Mission
- Next of Kin
- Shining Through
- Rob Roy
- Michael Collins
- K-19: The Widowmaker
- Seraphim Falls
- Taken
- The A-Team
- The Grey
- Taken 2
- Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues
- A Million Ways to Die in the West
- Non-Stop
- A Walk Among the Tombstones
- Tak3n
- Run All Night
Seems like he’s being a lot of hypocritical to me. Make millions of dollars by making movies using the very same tool that you openly are against people having the right to own. But he’s not the only one:
- Kevin Costner
- Sean Connery
- David Duchovny
- Mark Harmon
- Sylvester Stallone
- Harvey Weinstein
- Jeremy Renner
- Mark Wahlberg
- Arnold Schwarzenegger
Just to name a few.
I don’t want you to think that this all about guns and gun control. I come across it everyday. Take any topic that is a “Hot Button” topic and you will find people on both sides with strong opinions. You will also find those that will say and do things publicly but change once they are behind closed doors in the safety of their own homes.
How do you deal with people when you like them but have differing views? How about when they say one think publicly and then find out they don’t stand behind what they say? How do you deal with people (like Hollywood and the actors and producers) that are against something publicly but also use what they are against in their movies? Let me know about them by leaving me a comment/message using one of the links at the bottom of the page.
