I don’t know about you, but being able to schedule emails to go out when I need them to is a big help…especially for the classes I teach. Because let’s face it, sometimes you don’t want everyone to know that you wrote an email at 2 in the morning, especially when they don’t need to see it for a couple of days. And if you’re like me, life can be hectic and you can get distracted. What happens then when that email you meant to send is forgotten?
I say “Schedule them and be done!”
Now I know I can pay for this service through apps like Boomerang for Gmail but when the number of scheduled emails I need to send can vary from 1 to 25 or more a month I do not see the advantage of paying for a service I may or may not take full advantage of every month. Especially when I do not have a lot of extra money to be throwing around for services I don’t take full advantage of!
Enter Gmail Scheduler
This is a nifty little add-on for gmail that allows me to schedule emails for when I want them to go out.
Setting it up is also pretty easy!

How to Setup Gmail Scheduler
- Go to Gmail and compose a couple of email messages. After you are done writing the email(s), save the email to your draft folder.
- Go to labnol.org/scheduler and install the Email Scheduler by clicking the free button.
- After the add-on is installed, a Google Sheet will open in a new tab and ask you for your permission to run. Allow the add-on to access your Gmail and other Google Apps services. This is a one-time authorization and is necessary since all the emails will go out from your own Gmail account.
- Inside the Google Sheet, go to Add-ons -> Email Scheduler -> Configure to launch the Email Scheduler.
- You’ll see a list of Gmail drafts on the right hand side of your screen. Select a message from the dropdown, click the Schedule button and follow the wizard to schedule that message.
Gmail Scheduler also comes with a premium feature. This allows you to:
- Send recurring emails
- Track email opens
- Schedule unlimited number of messages
- You are also entitled to priority support for 3 months
